Alltech BioChrome chromium yeast is a top-quality product that can be ordered and purchased in 25kg bags from farm supply stores that have an account with Alltech distributors.
COPRA COCONUT MEAL
'CoolStance' is an excellent copra made primarily for horses by a company that is vigilant about quality-control and handling procedures.

MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE (MgCl)
It is recommended that any magnesium chloride products fed to horses either be Certified Food Grade, or produced from unquestionably pure sources such as the ancient underground Zechstein Sea, eg Ancient Minerals or Zechstein Inside.
Magnesium chloride sourced from the Dead Sea is not recommended due to the very high bromide levels in Dead Sea waters, regardless of any accompanying Certification. Bromine competes with iodine for binding in the body, especially the thyroid. Excess bromine results in a dysfunctional thyroid with symptoms such as weight-gain and fatigue (ref. Dr David Brownstein)

NOTE
Labelling regulations in many countries do not allow magnesium chloride hexahydrate to be advertised for oral human use. It is therefore common to find magnesium chloride products labelled as 'Bath Salts'.

OILS
Oils are a good source of extra calories for horses in hard work or for maintaining weight.
'PowerStance' is a dried, powdered coconut oil that confers the same benefits of fresh coconut oil (without the mess). Made by the same company that sells 'CoolStance' copra, it can be ordered through most produce stores.
Cold-pressed olive oil is another good option.
SODIUM BICARBONATE
Small packs of sodium bicarbonate can be purchased at any supermarket.
Most produce stores will stock 20kg bags of sodium bicarbonate.
UNREFINED SEA SALT
Olsson’s produce an excellent macrobiotic salt for horses in 20kg bags. It has a naturally high magnesium content at around 0.7%. When ordering this product, specify that the salt from South Australia is required. The macrobiotic salt from Western Australia does not appear to have the same qualities despite being sold in the same bag.
